Creative Freedom My Niche!

Creative Freedom My Niche!

Back in 1995 I just opened up my shop: Joey-Lynn's Flowers on Haddon Ave. in Haddon Township New Jersey..a Haddon Township florist. That is were it all began. I was a one woman shop, designing and delivering all day every day 7 days a week to Haddonfield and Cherry Hill New Jersey as well.  Tiresome yet so rewarding! I was lucky enough to find a small shop that I could handle all by myself needless to say It was a blessing to have found my niche early on in my career..."One-Of-A-Kind-Generous Designs"! This is where my customers who would either walk in my shop or call over the phone to place an order would allow me "Creative Freedom" ..."Designer's Choice".  All my clients would soon learn that I was a designer and artist on the side and that they could just simply tell me the occasion at hand and allow me "Creative Freedom" to design with passion: to use only the most gorgeous freshest blooms that came in that day to the shop and find the perfect most stunning unique vase to arrange those lavish blossoms in! That is where I shine!  These very generous sized arrangements that were one of a kinds: made especially for that customer are what became my niche. There were no books to look at, no website to order from ..just trust and a beautifully decorated shop. It comes down to trust and excellent customer service with a desire to give something more than they were expecting. That is my way of running  Joey-Lynn's Flowers. Funny everyone in the beginning would give advice of how to simplify my everyday duties at  running my flower shop...they would suggest...numbering a specific flower design or giving it a name. Although this system works for many florist, It somehow just made me feel restricted and broke my spirit a little so even though now fast forwarding 24 years later I do have some designs that are labeled for convenience for customers that like what they see immediately, I still kept my niche: "One-Of-A-Kind Generous Designs". Moral of the story: find your niche and stay true to yourself. That is how it worked for me at least. This is my advise for whatever you are doing in your life and whatever makes you special as a person not just a business owner of a flower shop. Have a great day and stop and smell the roses.
